4 A.M. Inside the last remaining and untouched deli since 9-11. This deli faced the Towers and was 50 yards away. With gasmask on, I walked in to
take a photo of the coffeemaker covered in cement soot and quickly left. Not safe breathing in there. Being in there was like walking into a time capsule.
Everything was untouched, including a newspaper from September 11 on the floor. A dimly lit light-bulb cast shadows on the ash and allowed me to take
the photo. I can only imagine the pandemonium that
morning in there.
