September 12, 2001 - I was on the Long Island Rail Road, when I saw a man playing with his baby son. They were having a ball and I shot a couple frames. The man, James McCartan, was wearing a FDNY cap. He asked who I was and I told him I was shooting for a tribute website. It turns out that James ia a firefighter with 170 in Brooklyn, and this was his first time seeing his son, Christian, since helping out with the tragedy on the11th. James cousin, Gerard Casey, was one of the lucky few pulled out alive from the rubble and is recouperating from serious injuries. James said "Christian's being unruly, but you know I don't really care today. I'm just happy to be alive and see my kid."
