Paul Geidel brought a treasured photograph of his son taken
during young Gary's very first haircut. The photo looks
like it was taken out of the LIFE magazine
archives. Paul liked the photo because "Gary just looked
so cute with those big, blue eyes....At the time, it was
the
worst fear that he had--getting a simple haircut. But he
conquered that fear and went on to accomplish many more
important feats as he got older. But it all started at
this haircut. "Gary Geidel, only months away from retiring
from the FDNY, was an Eagle Scout, former
Marine and decorated firefighter with the elite Rescue 1
in Manhattan. Gary leaves behind a daughter, Tillie, aged
nine.
